The Health Care Bill passes in the House, now goes to the Senate, where it may be stalled for a bit.  We should all be watching this closely. 

Danny Gokey’s  (remember him) label made this announcement:   Nashville, TN – American Idol Season Eight finalist and new 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville recording artist Danny Gokey made a surprise call to his Milwaukee hometown this morning as WMIL / FM 106.1 offered the world premiere airing of Danny’s debut single, “It’s Only.”

Officially shipping to country radio in mid-November, the gorgeous and inspiring ballad brought waves of listener feedback cheering, “I love the song,” and declaring “It’s Only” as “touching” and “awesome,” while another listener proclaimed, “That song gave me goose bumps!”

Fans everywhere can hear the song right now on dannygokey.com, with a digital single set for release on December 15 and a full album arriving next year.  EW.com says:  The track, which is the lead single of Gokey’s upcoming RCA Nashville country album, was reportedly written by Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley and produced by Carrie Underwood collaborator Mark Bright. Sounding a little like Five for Fighting (at least in my opinion), “It’s Only” is a big, emotional ballad and definitely the type of tune Gokey fans wanna hear. Personally, I kinda detest the dude and his overly jazzy LensCrafter frames but I’m also a loyal Adam Lambert fan (I’ve had Lambert’s new single, “For Your Entertainment,” on repeat all day today). That being said, I could totally see this song becoming a big country hit for Gokey.  (Tim Stack)  Judge for yourself:  

In a recent article on Inquirer.net here’s some Lambert info as we countdown to 11/23.  LOS ANGELES—“I did this myself, yeah,” Adam Lambert said with a smile, amused at a female reporter’s question on who dressed him up or styled him today. “This is out of my own closet. I like clothes so …”  “This” is his version of glam rock—pinstriped jacket, T-shirt with Marilyn Monroe’s image, skinny jeans and silver boots. The look is completed by his trademark dark eyeliner ringing those blue eyes, spiky hair, black nails and striking rings on each hand.  Mix those elements with his chiseled facial features and an incredible singing voice—and wonder no more why women fling their underwear at him onstage even though he’s admittedly gay.

Beyond these physical attributes, the “American Idol” runner-up is remarkably grounded and sensible. Very confident and articulate as well, the 27-year-old singer gave a very moving comment when a reporter told him that he must have wonderful parents.  “I do have great parents,” he said. “My father is teacher-oriented. He was very much guiding me through. I always felt weird and kind of out of place. I remember my father from my early age going, ‘It’s okay. When you’re older, everybody is going to want to be your friend, trust me. The weird ones are the ones that everybody wants to be like when they’re older.’ I really enjoyed hearing that as a kid. He gave me a little tip. He was like, ‘Hold on, just hold on. It will all work out. It will all fall into place. People will understand you later.’ So that gave me a lot of confidence, being like a strange kid. And my mom is just as supportive.”  Adam disclosed that he has Filipino friends so he rattled off the Pinoy food that he loves: “pancit, adobo and lumpia.” Told that “American Idol” alumni David Cook and David Archuleta have been to the Philippines, Adam said that he wants to visit the country, too.

Oh, and for those interested in football scores here you go:  Longhorns 35, UCF 3; Georgia Dawgs  38, Tennessee Tech 0;  Alabama 24, LSU 15; Georgia Tech 30; Wake Forest 27; Florida  27, Vanderbilt 3 .  Top 3 in AP poll remain same, Gators, Longhorns and Alabama.  Suprisingly in the No. 4 spot is TCU!  Okla. drops out of Top 25.  Who do you think will be playing in the BCS?   And on the pro end:  Falcons  31,   Washington 17 (Thank you Falcons);   Cowboys 20,  Philadelphia 16, which puts my Boys all alone on the top of the NFC East!  Great game too.

TGIF!!!  I’m so ready for the weekend.  Who plays this weekend??  Falcons are home and better win.   Will the Boys beat those pesky Eagles?  In SEC action, the big game this week is LSU at Alabama.  I’m rooting for the Crimson Tide.  I want both teams in the SEC championship to be undefeated.  Oh and I’m going to eat at Pappadeaux’s this weekend.    Have anything fun and exciting planned this weekend?  Spill the beans……

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are taking on the Oscars. The two Hollywood veterans will share hosting duties at the 82nd Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday.  What do you think of the choices?

On year ago we celebrated! It was the first Tuesday (actual date November  4th, 2008) when history was made.   Remember where you were when the Presidential election was  called?  Remember how you felt?

Okay, now, put that candy down, you don’t have to eat all your treats from tricking (hehe) in one weekend.  We’ve got some Monday morning QBing to do, so let’s get to it.

College Football:  What is wrong with your Dawgs from Ga?  I know they faced the Gators of Fla. but, seriously, a little better showing was needed.  The Dawgs were strong in the first part of the season, but have been sputtering a lot since – out of the top 25 in the polls.  Score: Gators 41, Dawgs 17.    However, back in the Big 12, the Longhorns of Tx. showed why they should be ranked higher than the No. 3 sport by giving the Okla. St. Cowboys a whipping…Colt McCoy still showing he’s a strong Heisman contender.  Final score: Longhorns 41, Pokes 14.   And not to be taken lightly, your Ga. Tech team steamrolled past Vanderbilt 56-31 and another team slowing and quietly inching it’s way up the rankings is one TCU out of Ft. Worth, Texas making itself a serious bowl contender beating UNLV 41-0.  Top 25 upsets:  Tenn over S. Carolina and Oregon whipping USC.  How did your team do? AP Rankings: Gators stay at No. 1, with Texas now 2, and Alabama 3.  Your Ga.Tech team is now at No. 10.

Baseball:  Yanks won games  3 and 4  in WS, lead 3  games to 1.  Come on Phillies.  Oh, and there was another weekend of youth baseball…Mustangs and one No. 1 grandson  gave a good showing. 

Basketball:  The true season began.  Hawks are 2-0 beating Ind. and Wash.; Mavericks are 2-1 losing the opener at home to the Wizards but winning in LA against the Lakers and Clippers, and who would have thought the Cavs would lose their first 2 games after signing Old Man Shaq in the off season (is there really an off season in basketball?).   With all that’s going on, anyone watch these games and care to comment. 

Pro Football:  Falcons traveled to the Big Easy Monday to face those Saints.  Will the Falcons come marching in or will the Saints dominate?  Stay tuned.   Cowboys hosted the Seahawks and gave them a good thrashing, 38 to 17.  Romo has gone 3 games now  without an INT.   I think the Jessica curse is finally lifted.  Giants continue their downward spiral by losing to the Eggles 40-17.  Ravens gave Denver their first loss 30-7. 

Idol News:  Season 7 Idol finalist Carly (tatoo) Smithson  and her band, We are the  Fallen have been signed to a record label. The band includes Evanescence members Ben Moody (guitar), John LeCompt (guitar), and Rocky Gray (drums), and Distubed and Static-X bassist Mary O’Brien.  We Are the Fallen is currently recording their debut album in Los Angeles and they plan on an early 2010 release.  Early this year, AI  caught up with the band. Watch a video of them rocking out.    Any interest?

Since it’s Halloween tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to talk about all that is creepy and scary.  Is there a movie that made you a frady cat.  Mine would have to be the original Halloween.  I was in the Navy at A school,  and they were showing it at the base auditorium.  I went with some friends.  I remember telling my friends that I had to go to the head (navy speak for bathroom) after about 15 minutes into the movie.  It was just an excuse to leave and not have to watch the rest of that movie.  Mikey showing up and vanishing into thin air just gave me the heebeejeebees..  I couldn’t take it any more not to mention that creepy music.  When I was in elementary school, I remember watching dialing for dollars after school.   They would show the old scary movies like Frankenstein, Werewolf, and Dracula.  I got so scared that every night I would ask my older brother if I could sleep with him because I was so scared from watching those movies.   And, don’t even get me started on all those ABC movies like the one with Karen Black and those crazy little voodoo dolls not to mention the Bermuda Triangle movies either.  Needless to say, I was a big scaredeee cat growing up…   So what movies or life experiences scared you… Did you hear any bump in the night they kept you up all night???  Now it’s your turn……
